Have you ever been so busy you wished you could clone yourself?  What if you could? What would you have your clone do first?

In addition to that miles-long to-do list (expense reports – ugh), what could your clone do or learn that could help you work smarter or avoid unnecessary pain?

As an identical twin, I can speak firsthand to the power of having your own clone. For example, my twin attended college classes on my behalf so I could sleep in. And I once (gladly) broke up with a boyfriend for her.

Visually it’s hard to tell if it’s me or my sister unless we are standing side by side or you know one of us very well. With identical DNA, we move the same, sound the same, and could easily switch places. We regularly run into people who think we are each other in airports, hotel bars, even during marathons! Most of the time we’ll admit we aren’t who they think they are. 😉

Having a clone also allowed each of us to see “what could have been” with the road less travelled. My sister married early and started her family young, while I dove into my career and travelled the world before starting a family.

Some of the twin clichés you’ve heard apply to us, but others do not. For example, while we can finish each’s other’s sentences, we cannot read each other’s mind or feel each other’s pain. Shockingly, I once had a coworker kick my sister hard to see if I was lying about this. Please do not do this if you run into her in your travels!

It’s safe to say that having a clone has been a game-changer for me.

Digital twins are game-changers for businesses as well.

McKinsey research indicates 70% of C-suite technology executives at large enterprises are exploring and investing in digital twins. Digital twins are computer models of real-world objects used to predict results through simulation. Businesses can leverage “cloning” as well to optimize their processes, cost savings, and sustainability efforts via digital twins.

Google Maps is a digital twin of the Earth’s surface which links real-time traffic data to optimize your drive. Our own Blue Yonder’s Cognitive Digital Twins combine digital twinning with AI to enable real-time monitoring, autonomous decision making, cognitive abilities, and continuous learning across your supply chain.

This Dec. 18 is National Twin Day. If you don’t have your own twin to celebrate with, consider leveraging AI tools to create your own “digital twin”! Make your cloning dreams come true and delegate tasks to a computerized version of yourself – there are so many AI tools available to help with time management, calendar drills, content creation, content summarization, even virtual headshots to boost your virtual profile!
