The week of Oct. 21, 2024, was Global Week of Giving at Blue Yonder, a time when our associates from around the world come together to give back to the communities where we operate. With World Food Day taking place in October, food insecurity was a primary focus for several Blue Yonder planned events. Across the globe, our associates packed more than 35,000 meals at food banks to impact hunger in their local communities! Associates also volunteered for many other causes that are important to them throughout the week. Below are some volunteering highlights shared by our associates:
“Proud to have contributed to providing 8,670 meals to our community by processing 10,404 pounds of fresh produce at the Central Texas Food Bank! In a short span of time, the Blue Yonder community in Austin, Texas, came together to give back to those in need. This sense of responsibility and community is what exemplifies Blue Yonder’s Core Values!” – Aditya Tumuluri, Texas, U.S.
“The Melbourne office volunteered with the Foodbank mobile supermarket bus. The rewarding experience involved stocking the bus with healthy food and then driving out to the community where people in need were able to hop on the bus and select food as if they were in a supermarket. A heartfelt thank you to my fellow volunteers for putting their hands up to volunteer on the day. Your dedication, time and hard work provided support to people in need, making a difference in the lives of many.” – Genevieve Lehman, Melbourne, Australia
“The volunteering day was a good opportunity to make a difference supporting a local charity, The Cowshed. It was great to see colleagues come together for team-building activities. We all enjoyed the day so much, we are planning to return in December to support their Christmas Project.” – Hannah Ling, Bracknell, United Kingdom
“Our team volunteered at the Foodbank Warehouse in Shanghai. We came away with a deeper appreciation for the resilience and spirit of those around us and a stronger sense of community. We’re thankful to have been part of it all, delivering more than just food or coffee, but also a message of care and recognition.” – Wendy Wang, Shanghai, China
“The Dallas team volunteered at Feed My Starving Children (FMSC), a nonprofit organization dedicated to feeding starving children in both body and spirit. Their meals are crafted by food scientists and nutrition professionals to meet essential nutritional needs and combat malnutrition, helping children grow, thrive, and reach their full potential. We all spent a couple of hours in the afternoon packing over 7,000 meals for underprivileged children in El Salvador. It was a rewarding experience for everyone involved, and we are eager to volunteer more.” – Ravi Sajja, Texas, U.S.
“Our Monterrey, Mexico, associates volunteered to support Caritas de Monterrey in a selfless act of support, compassion and kindness. This food bank is dedicated to helping those facing poverty, hunger and malnutrition in Nuevo Leon (a state in northeastern Mexico). They not only distribute food to local diners, but also provide a food pantry to low-income families, support smaller schools or communities in vulnerable areas, and even provide free nutrition counseling. Together, we can make a difference and continue to spread hope and nourishment to those who need it most.” – Lorena Castelan, Monterrey, Mexico
“As part of Global Week of Giving, we had a blood donation drive in Bangalore, India. Even with the bad weather, we had 31 associates donate their blood, which could save 93 lives. Thanks to everyone who participated in the drive.” – Jhansi Vinola, Bangalore, India
“As part of the Blue Yonder 2024 Global Week of Giving, 12 associates from the Waukesha, Wisconsin, area volunteered at Feeding America Eastern Wisconsin on World Food Day, Oct. 16. Volunteering in our communities is a core part of our culture at Blue Yonder, and everyone who participated found it personally satisfying to give back. Thank you to all the volunteers for their commitment to making a positive change during Global Week of Giving. Together, we are nourishing communities and making a lasting impact.” – Dianne Bender, Wisconsin, U.S.
“Just like astronauts on a mission, each step we took on our charity walk for The Global FoodBanking Network brought us closer to our goal of fighting hunger. The beautiful beaches and Sculpture by the Sea exhibition provided the perfect backdrop for this walk, reminding us that when we unite, we can create something extraordinary.” – My Tran Le, Sydney, Australia
