Here at JDA, we understand innovative technology and user experience (UX) are critical to profitable growth and efficiency, which is why we invest in research and development in these areas. JDA will be in attendance on Thursday, November 9, 2017, at the HEC Montréal Founders’ Hall in Montreal, for the launch of the research and development plan for Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC) Industrial Research Chair in UX.

NSERC Industrial Research Chair in UX is focused on research and development in the field of UX. The goal is to gain an unparalleled, deep understanding of the UX domain, measure UX with a level of precision unattainable to date, as well as create the technological innovations and tools needed to accelerate research in UX to help companies develop and optimize their user interfaces and compete on an international scale. The chair also aims to foster the transfer of knowledge and improve the training of highly qualified personnel. Research is required to provide a more accurate assessment of the quality of the overall user experience, accelerate the UX’s enhanced evaluation process in terms of execution and timeframe and perform these assessments in a timely manner and in authentic and natural contexts of interaction.

NSERC supports university students in their advanced studies, promotes and supports discovery research and fosters innovation by encouraging Canadian companies to participate and invest in postsecondary research projects. NSERC researchers are on the vanguard of science, building on Canada’s long tradition of scientific excellence.

How Collaboration Between Partners and NSERC Leads to Success

JDA’s investment in NSERC Industrial Research Chair in UX will help Canadian companies apply new knowledge from the collaborative research efforts, enabling them to improve their practices and interfaces and gain a unique competitive advantage. In addition to JDA, other industry partners include D-Box, Deloitte, Desjardins, Sobeys and Vidéotron. Government partners include Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC), Quebec Prompt Program.

Through the partnership, the university (HEC) will have the opportunity to advance science, make new knowledge available to Canadians and train highly qualified people. JDA and other partners will benefit from unique UX evaluation methods and results to help improve interface design and UX practice.
