Dennis Vandel of Foot Locker Named a Retail Innovator Award Winner by Retail TouchPoints
Retail TouchPoints, an online publishing network for retail executives with content focused on optimizing the customer experience across all channels, is a content-rich web site featuring daily news updates and multi-media interviews. Each year, Retail TouchPoints hosts the Retail Innovation Conference. In addition to featuring the latest in retail technologies and trends, Retail TouchPoints also hosts the Retail Innovator Awards (RIA), an awards program that recognizes retail executives who are focused on driving change and success through innovation and disruption.
During the 3rd Annual Retail Innovation Conference in New York, 24 leading retail executives were honored as Retail Innovator Award winners. More than 100 nominations were received for this year’s Retail Innovator Awards. Winners hail from a wide cross-section of industry segments and company sizes and are recognized for disrupting the retail industry with new digital and omnichannel initiatives, workforce innovations, unique entrepreneurial concepts and much more.
JDA Software is proud to recognize Dennis Vandel, Vice President, Store Wages/WFM/Business Analysis for Champs Sports Division of Foot Locker as one of the 2017 Retail Innovator Award winners.
As leader of the Workforce Management team for Foot Locker North America, Dennis works to ensure the company’s more than 40,000 associates across 3,383 stores worldwide are empowered to effectively meet the needs of in-store customers. He and his team utilize JDA’s workforce management solution (WFM) to help meet and exceed the new and expanding predictive scheduling mandates that are part of recent changes to labor legislation.
In 2011, Foot Locker implemented JDA WFM solution across multiple store locations around the globe to balance associate schedule flexibility with an optimized labor schedule. JDA’s WFM ensures flexibility for store associates while empowering managers to have final say in scheduling, ensuring the right teams are ready and available to serve the customer.
Because many of Foot Locker’s store associates are under the age of 20, and balancing work and education, flexibility is important, and the ability to easily pick up hours and swap shifts is a feature of JDA WFM that the associates value. Looking ahead, Foot Locker is starting to leverage the JDA WFM solution to address new trends like Buy Online Reserve In Store (BORIS) to ensure the right team on the sales floor at the right time.
